Melrose High School Algebra 2
Day 8
get accepted!
This is your final assignment for this project. Tomorrow we will compile all of your notes into your LIFE AFTER MELROSE document and begin editing. Monday and Tuesday you will read each other's papers to edit and give feedback. Wednesday you will bring your printed paper to turn in. This is your final exam.
Today's mission is to answer this one last question: How do I get accepted?
This is all about the admissions process, essays, and interviews. The goal is that you would thoughtfully process what it will take to turn in the best application possible to get in to the school of your dreams.

- First, as you think about your current ACT score and your goal for your ACT score, your GPA, and your other qualifications, describe an academic action plan that will earn you the most amount of scholarship money and guarantee that you are accepted to your #1 school.
- What do you need to do to reach your target GPA and ACT score?
- What daily actions in class will help you meet these goals?
- Where can you download an application to your top two college options? When are applications due?
- Do you need to write an essay as part of the application? If so, what is the prompt? How long does the essay need to be?
- Google for scholarship or application essay writing tips. What are they keys to a good admissions essay?
- What community service or sports experiences could you refer to? What difficult circumstances have you overcome? Who are you trying to prove wrong? Who are you living in honor of? All of these are admirable traits that people can relate to and should be a part of your admissions essay.
